The client came to use looking to expand on an idea relating to an increasingly growing set of services they were offering. Essentially, the client had been providing services relating to storage tank installations for some time, and felt it was time to solidify this loose set of services into key set of propositions.

Portside consulted with the client and conducted competitor research to understand how better to position them. No name had yet been given to the venture so everything was open to discussion. We eventually decided on Tankology as it was simple, memorable and could accommodate an expanding suite of related services.

Included in the requirement was the creation of all collateral such as new logo, website, SEO copywriting and so on. Budget constraints meant a few corners needed to be cut, but not enough to negatively affect the desired outcomes.

With a limited budget we created a simple and clean logomark that could be used across all online channels.

There was little budget available for the Tankology logo design and branding but we agreed to provide something that was simple and clean. The end result was a simple icon that could be used across social media and mobile platforms.

Soft branding

Portside also agreed to formulate an underpinning brand identity that would tackle the basics such as colours, fonts, key messaging and so on. The limited budget meant no complete brand guidelines, however the exercise did help us create a more comprehensive approach to collateral such as business cards and the website.

The client favoured green and blue as they had used this colour scheme in parts of their business. We took those colours and expanded on them to create a functioning set of brand colours that could be used both online and offline.

Keyword research

Primary focus for keyword research was storage tank installation around the South Wales area, with a focus on septic tank services. Portside conducted in-depth keyword research and competitor analysis. Doing so informs the structure of the website as well as the SEO content.

SEO copywriting

Portside took the keyword research and used it to inform the SEO copywriting. We conducted a serious amount of research on the services provided before everything was written up. The content and website structure were designed around search engine requirements as much as functionality and user experience.

Additionally, we also used a range of words and phrases we felt related to the core message of the Tankology brand. We worked these words into the copywriting in parallel to the keywords for SEO purposes.

Web design

By the time we came to the website design we already had everything we needed in place. The website was built using WordPress in conjunction with an underpinning theme that would provide the functionality needed to deliver the site. We also provide on-going support, website management and hosting.
